Beware up ahead,
In that rusty old orange bus
The one with the taped seats and loud brakes,
The one going to school on roads, neither good
Nor safe.
Beware up ahead
In the dusty white pickup
The one with the flag on the bumper to support the troops,
The one driven by someone who never joined an army
Nor voted.
Beware up ahead
In the gas guzzling SUV
The one owned by those responsible for economic growth,
The one that is driven by someone with too many needs, wants and desires
Or credit.
Beware up ahead
In the shiny big limousine
The one with room for political donkeys and elephants,
The one leased by the well connected corporate giants
Or lobbyists.
Beware up ahead
In the congress
The one filled with wise representatives and senators,
The one whose pockets are lined by multinational offshore entities
Or insider tips.
Beware up ahead
In the military frontline
The one filled with patriotic ambitious young privates,
The ones who, later back home, won’t be applauded, supported and rewarded
Or employed.
Beware up ahead
In the future
The one where all your children must live together,
The one where land, water and air is either ruined
Or shared....
