i'll sing it one last time for you

At his question, Isoke hesitates. Truthfully, she realizes now, she hadn't thought her sudden departure from the harbor all the way through. It had been a quick decision based on fear and instinct: a gut reaction to an uncertain situation. She muses over this for as long as is still polite, trying to form her reasoning into coherent sentences.

"I never actually met him," Isoke finally admits, and dips her head with embarrassment. "I guess I just kind of assumed he would be trouble. Anawar was the only stallion who ever protected me, so as soon as he disappeared I figured I'd be better off looking after myself. The whole herd just kind of scattered." That, and I was so angry I wanted to castrate him, she thinks sourly.

When Isoke meets Dante's one good eye again, she smiles sheepishly. "Sorry to bore you... It's really not that big a deal." Lie. She trails off and averts her gaze, taking a moment to casually glance around their vibrant surroundings. Like a lightning bolt, something suddenly strikes her: something so blindingly obvious she's surprised she didn't notice it before.

"Are you here alone?"
