"Encantador? Angry?" She chuckled. "His emotions are strong," she continued, and it was approval that lifted her voice. Too many times she had been confronted with horses who seemed made of stone, and any creature who could consistently disguise how they felt always flattened El Aran’s ears. Contrived indifference was always a precursor to excessive hate and violence, and that sort of need for control predicted oppression. She was glad Mellow was gone. The seer’s black gaze had traveled away from the younger mare, but now her eyes pinpointed on the interrupted strip that painted a thin white line down the girl’s face. "I am impressed," she said with a small smile. "Most horses assume their first encounter with another shows all the facets of an individual. I think many would have been put off by his temper." El Aran’s eyes shifted away from Sova when the smoky mare asked her probing question. "I grew up in a similar climate," she replied. Sloshing water, El Aran climbed to her feet, her jaw set.
