the missing piece that makes me fit

morgan -----
by eli out of caylee

Morgan doesn’t move immediately. Her dark eyes scan Isoke’s face for any sign of shock. It doesn’t really surprise her that she doesn’t find anything; Isoke has always been the more resilient to trauma of the two of them. Even now, Morgan wants to go and hunt down the man that had done this, whereas Isoke had just wanted to get away. Morgan had never heard her friend use such language, although now some of the same language is running through her own brain.

She wonders if the familiar place will help Isoke deal with what had happened easier, or if it would bring on the shock in full force. She presses her smoky shoulder against Isoke’s black one, reminding both of them that they’re together. Nothing will separate them again if Morgan can help it.

The jealousy is much easier to contain then she would have expected as Isoke calls for her father – it’s probably due to the fact that she has so much anger and hate coursing through her at the moment. She’s not really surprised that there’s no response; she’s learned that stallions are very unreliable, even those who are supposed to care for those closest to him. She’s never met a stallion that she’s liked well (at least not anymore), and though she isn’t about to say it to Isoke, Morgan doesn’t think Isoke’s sire will be any different.

She trusts that Isoke knows the safest places in the territory, so with a nod of her head, she heads for the trees. Luckily it isn’t a far jog, so Morgan doesn’t have time to dwell on the unpleasantness of the whole situation. She’s very uncomfortable being in the realm of a stallion that she’s never met, regardless of Isoke’s assurances of his goodness. Morgan doesn’t trust stallions as far as she can throw them; the only reason she’s doing this without complaint is she knows that Isoke needs her. Unlike certain individuals she’s known, she would never abandon someone she loves.

Once she reaches the first few trees, she turns her back firmly on them so that she can see the rest of the territory. She’s less worried about what could come at her through the forest because she’ll have a much easier time hearing anything coming through the rustling branches. The open expanse in front of her, however, is a minefield for trouble, and with Isoke already so vulnerable, Morgan isn’t taking any chances.

She finds herself watching Isoke again, but finally she decides to break the ice; if she doesn’t speak at all, Isoke may get the wrong idea that even the tiniest portion of Morgan’s fury is directed at her. ”So,” she says before pausing, her mind scrambling to find a safe topic for both of them. Again realizing that she doesn’t know anything about her best friend’s family, she asks, ”What was your mother like?”
