Sova seemed different, and whether it was for the better or worse El Aran could not say. The girl did not seem overly sad nor overjoyed from her time away from the desert. The black mare wondered what had happened while Sova was away. "Ah," she replied, taking note of her companion’s wistful tone. As the tide washed in and curled around her hooves, licking at her skin and chilling her lower legs, El Aran decided she was tired of standing in the ocean. The black mare was not overly fond of the waves and she’d had just about all she could take of the water today. Turning, she strode up the beach.
Realizing she had essentially walked away from an apology, she paused and looked over her narrow shoulder at the dark girl. "You came back," she replied. "And that is all that matters. Come," she said, and walked further up the loose sand until her hooves touched the rock-hard ground of the desert. A few steps further were all she took before stopping. The ocean was still loud, but the crash of surf no longer made it difficult to converse without shouting.
El Aran turned to face her dark companion and took a moment to observe the smoky black mare. She was certainly eye-catching, and there was something about Sova’s quiet demeanor that the seer liked. "Did you find your father?"
