Her patience was admittedly worn thin from the odd appraisal she’d been getting from her partner, but El Aran’s ears twisted back as the girl continued to repeat herself. It sounded like babbling, and the desert mare had no interest in useless conversation. She made an effort to look past it: obviously it was important to the girl, hence her refusal to leave the subject alone.
Being ignored by the girl was also forgivable after the black mare took a moment to calm herself. But this was the second horse in her desert to talk over her, as if she was not a part of the group, and El Aran found it difficult to look upon Misty with anything favorable in her eyes. She settled for a neutral expression as she pushed her ears forward.
“As my partner said,” she spoke in a moment of quiet. “You are more than welcome here. I will leave you two to catch up.” And with a brief dip of her head, the black mare turned and stalked away. Her irritation at Encantador’s behavior towards her was affecting her judgment in matters of the herd and until she could control her emotions, it was better if she was not around others.
