Iodine was wandering around the lands once again, always alert for any sign of danger, and at the same time searching for other equines. If Atlarin Surusu were to reach its goal as the safest refuge for equines--and probably other innocent herbivores--then the mare would have to find as many horses as she possibly could. The Quarter horse then wondered, just how many equines still roamed around Wolf Mountain? Probably not a lot... Well, the mostly black horse would hopefully find out.
She trotted by the Traydon River, pausing momentarily to watch the glimmering fish swim by in the running water. After a quick drink, Iodine continued along the bank, and within a few minutes, she encountered the other equine. At first glance, he was a horse, like the black-and-white mare herself. Then she looked again.
The horn atop the creature's head told Iodine what he really was. The Quarter horse was quite awestruck, as she had never seen a real unicorn before, let alone any other mythical that inhabited the mountain. "I wonder...is he alone or does he have a companion?" she asked herself quietly. She was about to find out.
Snorting, she trotted forward to greet the horse-like animal. "Hello there," Iodine greeted him with her friendly tone. Then, instead of asking if he would consider joining Atlarin Surusu right away, the mare began with the basic question, "What brings you to Traydon this fine afternoon?" She didn't want to sound too desperate, anyway; it wasn't like the little gang had been attacked by wolves yet. But there was always safety in numbers, and so Iodine had left the ganglands in hopes of finding at least one more member for the herd. And if it turned out that the unicorn was alone, surely he wouldn't mind joining...?
