Consider me a Herold

Vesti
Ill news is an ill guest

Vesti cocked her head at the quite mare who had first called out and now seemed about ready to melt into the ground. Lost Soul likely. But Vesti was fine with that - they could be Lost together on this place where the waters churned below. Vesti waited patiently while the mare stuttered her response. Vesti’s heart was pounding from the run - it had felt good. So she had an unusual bout of hyperactivity. Or at least, she would till the Quarter Horse in her took over and she decided she was done being crazy. But that was for later.

“Good to meet you, Larka,” she said as the other mare introduced herself. Ok… not lead. Guess she’s just the lover. More power to her! Why is she looking… oh right. My name. Durr… Vesti put on her best, warm smile. Maybe she could coax a little of that shyness out of the mare in front of her. She seemed rather like she would rather hid behind Nik’s form.

“Call me Vesti,” the sorrel says. “It means ‘Herald’… don’t know what that is, but I remembered it because that’s what my dam said.” One of the only things Vesti could even remember of her dam was the accent, the pretty and foreign accent. Of course, her dam had said it like “westy” but Vesti’s hot-blooded father had pronounced it with a “V”. So, that’s how Vesti said it.

She looked at the timid mare, who seemed to be relaxing a bit. That was a good sign! Vesti didn’t want to be the scary one. She didn’t like that idea, though her crazy eyes when she had been running might have put a damper on that idea. But then again, isn’t crazy just a perception? But, then again, who thinks in circles like this?

Vesti.

But at the moment, her mind wasn’t going as fast as her blood. So she pranced in a circle a bit. “Sorry,” She apologized. She didn’t want it to seem like Larka was boring or anything. Because, well, they’d only exchanged a few sentences, so there was no way Vesti could make any sort of call… well at least that kind of call. “Guess, I’m still a little hyped up from that run I had this morning.”
