well it gives me the shivers

I saw you in my dream last night
you had a smile so white.
I thought your teeth were the stars.
your eyes they were like tiny rivers
well, it gave me the shivers
when you looked right up at me

Larka had been standing there for quite some time. Her bright blue eyes looked blankly out to the sea. She wondered about it; about how it could seemingly swallow someone up only to spit them out later. Why had she not drowned in the bottom of the sea that day? Honestly there wasn’t much she remembered besides the water’s gossamer grip around her body and then land. She shut her eyes for a moment allowing the rare memory of her old home to fall upon her. She did miss her mother and father; but they had raised her well. She knew it was a horse’s way to find their own path, she could only hope the one she took was the right one.

It seemed to be though. It had led her to him. Her thoughts shift fondly to the grullo stallion. He had captivated her, revealing something inside the shy mare that no one else ever saw. With him she could be something else. She could be confident, flirty, and funny. Anything really. She knew he had responsibilities with the other mares. Surely everyone wanted his love. She could see that. Larka could only hope that they had something different. Something much more than a herd mare and her stallion. Maybe it would be described as two lovers intertwined in each other.

Then there he was. As if her daydream had become alive. A soft nicker hitting her ears and then touch. She felt her body grow warm with happiness as his kisses and nips inched their way up her body. A content smile fell on her face and she turned into the touch, her eyes shut. He spoke and her ears pricked forward. He seemed so soft with her. Which was good, little Larka was like a porcelain doll. Beautiful to look at but easily broken.

The black and white mare shook her head slightly and murmured, ”No, love, I was just pondering things. Happy things.” Her muzzle finds his neck on which she places a few fond kisses before breathing in his scent. It had the familiar smell of Nikola, mixed with other horses and the sea. It felt like home wrapped into him. ”A walk?” She asked, pulling away from him. Even though she felt confident around Nikola her voice was still soft.

She took a few steps forward. ”Well then, I’m yours.” those words held so much meaning. Yes, she meant it in the sense she was his for the evening, but she also meant it in the sense of forever. She was his, now in this moment, and even if they one day fell apart she would always be his. He held a special place in her heart. One that she would never fill again until the day she left the earth.

you can stay here a while in this hotel heart
people come and they go everyday
I'll never let it get cold or dark or crowded
I'll never give your spot away.
