Badr

His name was strange, foreign to her. He was lead stallion here now, and that had her wondering of what became of her brother Niord. After their father left, Niord had gained the dunes for himself. He had been the heir. Maybe the sands had claimed him finally, she thinks, her eyes turning from the stallion to take in her home. Who knew such a wonderful place could bring down someone who was born and raised here. Shaking her head with a tired sigh, her eyes caught the slight movement of Badr. He was turned and clearly waiting on her.

Gently brushing past him, her legs carried her body across the familiar sands. "How do like the dunes Badr?" she asked. That's lovely. Make conversation, but she had to admit it was a great way to figure out what his plans were for her home. She was sure if her mother Aldiva was here, the other red mare would be raising hell as always. To Aldiva, the dunes were everything, and was what she considered her kid's birthright. Alexa really did not care for anyone who lived here or owned it. She just wanted to make sure her old home was well taken care of. Her step faltered, but she caught herself and quickly sent Badr a warning look, almost as if she thought he was going to help. She didn't need it.

"This place always remains the same," she comments, mostly to herself. "Never changing." She lifted her dark gaze from her hoofs as the small oasis she had always come to as a child came into view. This place, she new this place well. The cluster of dying brush just off to the side held proper bedding where she would always lie as a small filly. The herd would always gather here. Without another glance or a single word to Badr, she drifted closer to the water.

As she glanced down into the water, her reflection stared back. She took in her withered sight, and with one hoof she instantly disturbed the image. Dipping her muzzle into the cool water, she couldn't help but think of the mistake she had made. Maybe the loss of loved ones isn't the right reason to actually die for.
