Ugh… this is… warm?!Vesti jerked her head up. What sorcery is this? She struck the water with a front hoof. Once, twice. The water splashed up. And she was proven right. It was warm.
She snorted and danced along the edge, debating whether to quench her thirst with this unnatural water. Or if she should just give up. Perhaps, fortunately for her, instinct took the choice out of her hands. Her dry, cracked throat needed the fresh water that was here.
The mare lowered her head to slowly drink from the pool. It was stale to her. But it was water. And while it did not cool her, refresh her as she had hoped it would, she took what it offered. The grasses were dry too. They cracked strangely in her mouth as she nibbled at them.
Truly, this had to be some sort of hell. Why else would there be the things she needed to sustain herself, but they were dry and hot - as much as the sea of sand that trapped her. She gave a glance to the other stallion. She could feel his eyes on her and she had no idea what she felt about that. What did he want?
Why don’t we just ask him? Asked the Voice. Vesti shook her head and returned the hot water. She was getting very irritated with her inner voice. Are you ignoring me too? You can’t keep silent forever, darling. And there isn’t much else to look at in these Sand Sea. Vesti shook her head. She glared over in the direction of the stallion. No… she (gag reflex) needed him. She’d die out here alone.
And she didn’t want to die.
“You got a name?” Her cracking and rusty voice breaks out. The words nearly choke her. But they’re there anyway. Good girl, now was that so hard?
