Vex's eyes shined like the moon itself. She pushed her face into Talon, underneath his head and near his neck. She rubbed his thick coat, inhaling his rich scent along with all the other scents of the forest. The air, the animals, the river, and everything in between. If a wolf had walked up to her the day before and told her she would love Talon again, she would have ripped his throat open. But now, his familiar scent was not hostile, it was warming.

She welcomed his tail wrapping around hers, and then returned the favor by nibbling his ear softly. If she was to be his mate, the two wolves could grow in power until forever and then perhaps rule a pack together. The scent of fear wafted through Vex's nose, she could taste the power. "Tonight we begin our journey," she said. She leaned her head on his shoulder, gazing at the moon.

But she didn't want to relax anymore. The night was too excellent. She smiled, and taunted, "I bet you can't beat me to the river." She pulled away from him, and pushed her feet off the rock and leaped down, bolting down the hill like lightning. She didn't bother looking behind her to see if Talon would follow, she was blind to everything but the blood rush, the thump of her heart, and the soft Earth beneath her paws. When the river was ahead of her, she leaped into it head first. She clawed out of the river, laughing and smiling. She shook out her fur, sending water droplets everywhere.

Her fur was then moist and somewhat fluffy. She looked at Talon. "Tonight is too amazing to laze around. Let's go do something, hunt, fight, let's make to tonight one of the best of our lives!"

On the other side of the river, she could see a buck grazing. "Speak of the devil," Vex said ducking into a stealthy crouch. She crept into the river, wading slowly to the other side, all while being as silent as a mouse. Vex wasn't the strongest wolf on the mountain, but she was known for her speed and stealth. She waited for the wind to blow towards her when she finally touched land again. The water was annoying, hanging off her coat and making her look huanchier and bigger. When she was ten feet away from the buck, she howled loudly, and sprinted after it.
