Her dark face is lit with appreciation when she hears the kindness in Nikola's tone. Not a moment later, however, she is bewildered, confused by his speech and not entirely sure she has heard him correctly. I don't remember him having such an affectation before, she thinks as she stares at him blankly, her brows creased together in confusion.

At the last moment she decides not to comment on it, at least for the moment. She doesn't want to be rude when the stallion before her is being so kind.

Embarrassed by the passing of such an awkward moment, Isoke averts her gaze briefly, lowering her head to brush the rippling waters of the river with her lips. Overhead, there is a sudden rumble of thunder, and she can hear the slow pitter-pattering of rain beginning to fall upon the canopy above. Thank the gods I'm not still out on the beach, she thinks wryly, lifting her head to gaze skyward briefly and wonder how Morgan is doing.

But finally she gets to the point. Swishing her dark tail against her white-splashed flank, the delicate mare clears her throat before speaking. "First off... I'm sorry for the way Morgan has been acting. You should know that she is the only friend I have in the world. We've been through so much together, and... well, we haven't had the best of luck with finding a home or someone trustworthy to keep us safe. Morgan is very protective of me. Even more so now that I've had Brienne. The stallion that got me pregnant... well, let's just say he was not a nice man."

She sighs, trying to disguise the fact that her throat is growing tight with emotion. "She is wonderful and loyal, I assure you. She will just... take some time to warm up to you, and the others."

Isoke falls quiet finally. Will he understand what I'm getting at?
