Death, it has come to us-- irrevocably. It’s etched in gold and blood across our flesh and printed in ash upon the very lands we had one tried to hold so foolishly. We were wrong, so wrong and He took it all away from us.

He rose up from the wasteland of plague and sin, the grim reaper, One, our God. His blackness creeps over our flesh and pours into our mouths like pounds and pounds of diamond dust. We can’t breathe, we can’t escape. This is the blackness of the darkness, the end of our too short salvation.

There is nothing left of what we had, Out avarice is burned away and our crowns ripped from our heads. We are bleeding out, rotting away, putrid in the way the flesh melts from muscle and bone. We are the dead and the dying. There is no difference between the devoted and the sinners now-- we’re all just forgotten garbage.

But then something changed. Our souls, black, white, gray and silver rose from our bodies like a thousand flies. We, the soul horses, rose and our feet ghosted over the land. Others remained, rotting from the inside out. But we still rose-----


This is the rising.
But it feels just like sinking.
