 It was rare that anyone had visited the dunes. The harsh living conditions had barely made them a suitable home for the mares that Badr had collected, rounded up, and brought here; and even less likely to be a preferable stop for sight-seers.
As the golden-maned stallion stood near the edge of the beach that stretched out into the desert, he was blissfully unaware of the sorrel mare that had wandered up on the sandy border of his home. For now, he stood with his lips hanging near his ankles, brushing meekly over the remaining stubble of some beach grass that he had been grazing on earlier, waiting for the fall of night so that he could wander into the sandy wasteland and find his way back to the large oasis without breaking a sweat. When he did see the chestnut girl, he assumed it to be Vesti, wreasting with some inner conflict about the stallion that had left her here in place of taking the vile, aggressive woman with him. Of course, after a moment or two of hesitation, the dark-skinned stallion moves down the sandy slope towards the beach to greet her, finding pause once more as he sees that the girl is not the one that is currently in residence of the dunes, but instead a foreigner that was unfamiliar. Priding himself on being able to keep faces fresh in his mind, the stallion stops, staring long and hard at her, finally falling on the decision that he had never met this woman before and that she was a stranger. Ever vigilant and certain to not frighten away women, the stallion moves towards her at an easy walk, stooping his head a bit and being sure to greet her with a quiet whicker from a fair distance before he is close enough to greet her with words.
