Deep breath. One, two, three. Breathe.

The desert spread out before him. Sand. It was all that he could see. To be perfectly honest, Baine had never set foot in a desert before and it was a little intimidating. The large beast was used to wandering the open plains, covered in green grease and wildflowers. This… this was something entirely different.

Baine had heard that the lord of the Dunes, Badr, had been in search of a second stallion to help protect his home. The painted giant had offered his services and Badr accepted, which explained his presence in the desert region.

He was eager to explore his new home and map out every nook and cranny of it's layout. Not only that, but he'd like to introduce himself to the rest of the herd. It would be best if he knew who lived here permanately and who were visiting from neighboring lands in the kingdom. He also wanted the ladies of the herd to get to know him and hopefully be comfortable with him around.

Baine took an unsteady step forward. On his way here he had traversed briefly on the sandy landscape, but it was something he was still getting used to. He was familiar with the hard-packed, unmoving earth of the plains. The constantly shifting sands were completely foreign and he moved forward carefully. He wanted to be ready incase there were any surprises in store for him.

The scent of water hit his nostrils and he immediately made that his destination. It wasn't long, even with the pace he was moving at, before he came upon a small oasis. The ground was more solid around the edge of the pool and Baine was thankful for that. It was here that the painted stallion decided to wait. Surely one or a few of the herd members would stop here to rest.
