ariana -----
by spartan out of samara

It doesn’t take long at all for Tarrant to appear on the horizon, leaving Ariana in a brief panic as she realizes that she hasn’t planned out a speech about what to say. When she sees him for the first time in what must be weeks, if not months, she relaxes and an easy grin comes to her red lips.

He appears in a blur of gold and white, and once she can make out more than just his silhouette, she searches for the green eyes that have haunted her dreams since their encounter. She is very grateful that she has found him sans Wonka, and she wonders briefly which of them has initiated all this time apart. This is the second time that she has found the father without the son – it must be some kind of record. Ariana hasn’t forgotten how close the pair had been the first time she’d met them.

She hopes that she’ll have some time alone with Tarrant before Wonka arrives, not knowing if it would be at all awkward for the young man to hear that she is carrying his sibling. She waits for the stallion to approach, feeling her heart beating wildly and wondering if her voice will reflect the nerves bubbling in her gut.

She reaches out for him as soon as he says her name, and she again feels the warmth flowing through her that had given her such a rush the last time she’d seen him. She buries her face in his ivory mane, not realizing until this moment exactly how much she had missed him. She’d really enjoyed his company, and now she doesn’t think she could bear being anywhere else.

It doesn’t surprise her that Tarrant gets right down to business; he’d spent years as a lead stallion and a King, so she’s sure that he would have long since learned time management skills. She decides to be honest without beating around the bush too much. Part of her just wants to get it out of the way, and part of her really wants to tell him so that she can share this secret with him, he who deserves the most to know.

”I’ve actually been looking for you,” she admits, ”so that I could tell you something. By the way,” she adds casually, ”did you know my parents live next door?” She gestures in the direction from which she’d come, where the border of the Cove is located. Ariana hopes that he won’t read too much into her first statement and make it harder for her to tell him.
