From a summers thread

She smiled to herself wickedly, her mind replaying her earlier interactions with the so called lead…colt. A chuckle tumbled out of her velvet lips as she trotted through the snow her heavy hooves making quick work of punching holes in the snow. Winter picked up her head tossing back the thick tendrils of creamy mane before glaring up at the sun, how vile she found it to be, so cruel. “Quit trying to melt my snow!” she often grumbled to herself or yelled at the landscape, she had been alone for sometime so who was here to judge her. The inlet was always on the crisp side, often times parts of it would have dustings of snow all year around which she found agreeable enough but she found that the islands was in its prime of beauty when full winter hit plunging the Inlet into a well of frost, snow and, the blistering cold. She smiled again, this time of year was her favorite.

The golden girl roamed over the land quietly enough just listing to the crunch of the snow and whatever sounds the wind brought her as hit ruffled her mane and seeped under her thick coat. “Why is it not snowing again?” Winter frowned when she came to a stop alongside a few scraggly pines her golden goat a stark contrast to the dark green backdrop. The mare sighed as she knew nothing would answer here, trees can talk so why are you talking to them? She rolled her frosty blue eyes, it gets boring in my own head obviously. Well you have those to stallions now to keep you company if you seek it out and any other mare you know they will drag into the godforsaken place. Winter chuckled at the idea of her hanging around the other horses, why would I want to go do that for. You are bored Winter girl, you are standing here having a conversation with yourself! Her eyes widened and she jerked her head up with a steamy snort. Oh my land! Im craking up! The golden mare groaned and let her head drop. Ill be crazy here soon.

The calls of the other horses danced its way to her on a particularly cold gust of wind drawing the mares attention towards the cliffs that were near to her. “Well this should be interesting.” Winter murmured as she picked up her hooves in a steady canter towards the sounds. She could smell now that her attention was called to it the scents of other mares as she drew closer her curiosity getting the best of her. Winter made her way through the smattering of trees keeping herself hidden within the shadows and the embrace of the thick pine needles, at least till she had a better chance to observe the newcomers. Frosty blue eyes peeped out from under her forelock as they saw at last the dark bay figure of a mare standing on the cliff just to the left of her delicious smelling hide out. Winter knew there was someone else out there but from her vantage she could only see the one. She stepped out cautiously lifting her head up aware of how she may look to the other girl, Winter’s thick frost crusted golden coat had fluffed up hiding her hungry bones and the damp from her snorts had caused ice to cling to her whiskers and eyelashes, her blue eyes sparkled at the thought of a yeti. Halting just short of the tree line Winter called out in to the mare. “Who are you?”
