It helps her to calm down and relax that she is not alone in meeting this new stallion for the first time, that she is not alone in her doubt that it would be safe. “I’ve been visiting with Spartan,” she informs Winter, her voice calm. “But the Inlet – no, I wouldn’t abandon it so easily.” Her brown eyes watch the blue roan to determine his reaction to this statement, wondering what he will think of her being friendly with a neighboring steed. She will not be staying in the Inlet if she cannot stay friends with the lead of the Cove; he is her best friend here, her second friend other than Tarrant. Her ears and eyes remain mainly on the unknown stallion, and she offers to him the same greeting she’d seen Winter do. Extended neck, reaching out with her nose, she breathes into his face before inhaling his own breath and filing it away. Her dark nose retracts; not touching him, though she couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if she did. “Does it? Can you promise not to disappear?” she inquires, tilting her head to the side as her eyes narrow. She, like Winter, does not want to become attached to someone who will simply leave in the future. Though it has only happened to her once, with Tarrant, she was already ready to stay guarded against a new stallion. She shifts her weight one last time, trying to remain comfortable in the presence of this purple-blue roan stallion. He is very different from Tarrant, from even Spartan; less open, not quite as pleasant. He is gruff, and she doesn’t know how she feels about this. Still, they have only just met, so she, heart set upon the Inlet, might just decide to give him a chance.  |
