Vesti was tired. That was evident. The joy she had, the need her child had was beginning to fade leaving her drained. She dropped her head to look back at the colt. She was going to have to think about what to call him. The colt, meanwhile, slowly crept out from under his mother to investigate his father.

“Tired,” Vesti admitted. “Happy, too. I suppose. Though, there don’t seem to be words…”

She smiled as she looked at her child. He was healthy. He moved about slowly on shaky legs. But he was healthy. She could not help the pride that swelled in her as she watched him. He slid out so that now most of him was exposed to the other side, where Badr was standing, not far away.

Of course, the colt would be curious. Vesti supposed it made sense. Though, she did not expect him to be quite so bold right away. Then again, she had no experience with children. She just knew that she loved him. And that she wasn’t going to let the Sea take him. It made her wonder how her mother had felt.

Both about her and about the Sea. Had her mother mourned her? Had she searched for her? Had she done nothing? Again, no answer from the Voice. Instead, the colt trotted a bit and reached up his nose towards his mother. Vesti smiled, dropping her own and nuzzling him. She looked back to Badr.

“Well,” she said. “What do you think?”
