(open post. no idea if html works here so excuse if it doesn't and looks ugly).

The cheerful party had come back from quite an eventful couple of months. Along the way they'd discovered many different friends and foes, and picked up quite a few allies. Merlin seemed to attract those of a mythical birth and now was the content "master" of six mythical creatures. Four of those were back home, in water pack, but Merlin had managed to drag along two of his closest friends today. Ignitus barely left Merlin's side, and he often seemed to guide the clumsy wolf in any way he could. Noah on the other hand was a tad ornery. He was wild, untamed, and frankly a handful for Merlin to look after. It was worth it though, as he had a sharp spirit that was hard to come by.

"This river is famous for it's fish!" exclaimed Merlin, looking from Noah to Ignitus with an expression that invited them to be pleased with him.
"You've already said that about ten times, Merlin." huffed Ignitus with dissaprovement. No matter how long he spent with the wolf, he would always get irritated by how constantly jolly he was. The ravin grythdragon prefered silence; quite the opposite to his friend.
"Yeah, but-"
"Yeah yeah, we know. They're the biggest fish around! I haven't found better anywhere else! Not even in water pack!" Ignitus imitated in a voice that was uncannily similar to Merlin's childish squeak.

The pair of them were silent for a bit as they both shot daggers at each other from over the top of Noah's head, and they carried on walking downstream, sort of grateful that the blue-black was placed inbetween them to prevent scrapping. Upstream was a bit too dangerous, Merlin figured. He might have braved it with just Ignitus, but as Noah was just a kid it was a risk he'd rather not take today. The mostly black furred wolf shot a glance at Noah, who seemed oddly composed. Perhaps it was just that he'd had a long nap before coming out. Or perhaps he was just saving his energy for later on. Whatever the reason, Merlin didn't question it, and tore his gaze away from the blue-back dragonling to focus on the river. "We should stop here. I've already eaten, but you two go ahead." he muttered, before turning to roll about on the bank. Winter was fast approaching - some said already here - and yet he was still constantly hot. The dreadful cloak he always wore was the reason for this. It did, however, cover up the distinguishing blue and purple star makings that were on his body, legs, and tail. To most, he just appeared to be coloured black and white, and for that he was grateful. You could never be too careful these days, he decided, surveying the grythdragon and dragon hunting in the water through grey-blue eyes.
