not everything is dark

Kieron
not everything is dark

Cavier’s cry to the nutmeg stallion was heard after the fact of taking a deep breath of the colts scent. Even in the heavy mist of the rain, the king’s sense of smell was innate. He nodded in response to the yearling steed, and swoped his dial in the other direction, towards the caverns by the shore. Hopefuly the warmth of the sea would work magic with the provision of shelter near at hand, to lighten the mood some.

Heading past Cavier, he could feel the warm breaths exhaling from the tyke’s nostrils onto his hide and it sent goose bumps up and down the stallion’s bodice.

"Why don’t we head to the coves down by the bay, Cavier. Hopefully we can find good coverage from the rain. It’ll be a little more private, so we won’t disturb your mother and sister."

Without waiting, Kieron led the way, picking and choosing his path, being picky about where he placed his hooves. Not wanting to splash mud al over the place. At the time, he was not in the mind set to roll around in the mud. There were matters to discuss, as the need to get his kingdom in order before winter came, was weighing on him greatly. He had his lead mare chosen, and she had accepted, now, he needed a right hand man, someone he could trust. That was hard to come by, especially in a new and uncharted territory, like the isles. The separation of the islands by the sea could be a good thing and a bad thing.

It seemed like forever, traveling in the unwanted rain, but as they neared the shore, there was a small over hang that seemed decently dry, and out of the incoming tides reach. It was here that the older male chose to come to a stop and looked behind him to see the colt right on his heels. Now it was time for man chitchat. He hoped and prayed this would go over well, but one could never be too sure. The stallion took a deep breath and looked to Cavier, wondering how he should start out. For it was he who had come searching for the boy, had he not?

"Cavier, if you recall back to when I was speaking with your mother about how we were going to try and solve some matters, well, I have been thinking. With what you know of the forest, as this has been your home longer than mine, I find it only befitting that, if you want, I can teach you the ways of proper stallion etiquette, if in turn you would accept part time being my right hand man. Eventually I will need a second stallion I can trust, and who is loyal to these lands. And I would be a fool not to give you the option first. That is if you would like to stay within the confines of the forest."

Kieron knew it was a winded question part statement to make. But he had wanted to get it all out in one breath, before losing concentration on why he had been searching the colt out to begin with, Patiently waiting for the younger boy’s response, he noticed the rain was letting up, maybe by evening the rain will have left, and the grass would ever stay green, until the harsh winter bore its teeth into luthien, taking a nasty bite of warmth with it.
