asleep or dead?

It’s parallel play for the lost ones, today. Earthshine doesn’t feel the need to look at the stallion, not necessarily. She’s already studied the way he looks—about as fantastic or remarkable as she does. They’re on the plain side, the pair is, but maybe Earthshine has always been that way. Maybe he’s always been this way too. Earthshine simply stands and she thinks, and maybe that puts her mind at ease.

Earthshine doesn’t know a Tarrant. She knows that there was an oddly painted man that used to live here with his young son, a handful of stallions, and before that it was one or another of Vanya’s brothers. It’s something that the mare tries to hold onto… the idea that someone is still there. Someone would still be there somewhere, right?

There’s a someday that hangs in the air. It’s the air of possibility, and that’s something that she can hold onto. It’s fun, and she likes that. There’s always something that she can hold onto… and that’s enough.

Solgar asks her of widows and she has to think for a moment. ”I don’t suppose so. My best friend isn’t dead.” The mare nods softly, watching the churning of the grey waves. The mare is gentle in the way she watches, eyes far off as she stands beside Solgar. It’s nice to be on a level playing field. She misses Ivan, but supposes everything does need to move on. She’s been moving on since she got to her feet.

She stands for a moment longer, thinking on the idea of widows. ”A place can be powerful, I suppose. I can show you.” The mare turns, willing to lead the way to a place not far off. It’s tucked away in the Inlet, a place she’d been shown as a child and spent a great deal of time. It was time that she’d spent hiding away from the world, knowing that Ivan could find her there. She’d show it to the blue man, if he’d like to see it. Maybe it was nice to know someone knew your favorite hiding spot.
