Another day, another stallion's scent drifting through the snowy trees. Fayte may be a little tired of it. She has been with the Forest two years. She knew it's secrets - she knew it's paths. She had become almost as immovable as the willows that gave her and her tiny family shelter. She was, of course, bored. Perhaps this stallion would stay a while? Or not. As long as she was able to remain in her home, Fayte did not care.
Her spotted daughter, however, found that a new stallion would be quite interesting. See, she was still young and the world was vibrant. Change was still strange to her, she had not yet learned that change was in fact consistant as the Stars themselves. It was something her mother was attempting to teach her - but she wasn't listening.
"Mother, Mother," Pleiades, now beginning to fill out, prodded her chestnut mother with her nose. She snorted. "Mother!"
"Yes, I smell him too," Fayte replied.
"Well?" The younger, but now taller, mare looked inquisitively at her mother. She had a hoof half raised. She clearly wanted to go somewhere. And meet this new, possibly interesting, creature.
"Well, what?" Fayte asked.
"Are we going to seek him out?"
Fayte looked at her too-eager daughter. She would much rather continue to eat and sleep. Stallions were old news to the well-traveled mare. They had been quite flighty in her recent experience. Promising sweet nothings that they never intended to keep. She did not, however, want her daughter to meet this new stallion alone. Pleiades was still innocent.
"Fine," Fayte said. She scratched her nose against her foreleg. "This shouldn't take too long." It never did.
