Yes, she liked this girl who leapt and bounded about in the water with her. She was like Yakone and for that, she was thankful. Her family had warned her that the outside world was not as kind as her pack - but so far, she had been proven right. There was only good in the world - good that she found in the splashing and yipping of her companion. They laughed together, sounds so pure they became seamless with the creek as Banner paddled about, the current trying to take her along for a ride. As she paddled, Yakone took a few cautious strides closer, extending her muzzle and letting a short bark of encouragement out - partly for she was afraid for her new found companion's safety. Over and over again, she had heard terrible stories of great waters taking wolves away and she did not wish to ever see such a thing! How could she be sure that the narrow creek was not a great water like in the stories? Had she been able to, she would have reached out and plucked the girl from the current but seemingly enough, she did not need to.
No sooner than she had began to feel a slight wave of panic, Banner rose to the shallows once more - only then did Yakone realise she had been holding her breath and she giggled as she exhaled, albeit nervously. Of course her friend had been okay - of course the river would not take them away. They were having too much fun for the bad of the world to creep up on them, right?
With a joyous bounce in her stride, she followed Banner towards the stone, her head tilted as she spoke. For a moment, Yakone simply starred with furrowed brows, head tilted left to right once again before she perked up into a bright grin.
"I will teach! Life skill, it is, good food!" she exclaimed excitedly, taking a moment to steady herself on the slippery stones as she approached another nearby stone, leaping atop it and rising from the water. The true extent of her minimal size became all too obvious with her pelt slicked down and for a moment, she took time to observe the new appearance of Banner. She had never quite seen a wolf like Banner - she had seen wolves with much white on them, but as pure as she? It was perplexing but admirable all the same! Her eyes glistened and mouth fell into a soft 'o' shape as she watched silently. Like a cloud, she thought, or like winter frost. If she had been from Yakone's home land, she would have been named Siku perhaps for the frozen lakes and the way she danced along them like ice itself. But she was not and as Yakone went to speak, in question of her name itself, she was beaten to the point by the young girl.
By young Banner.
It was a word she had not heard used as a name and for a moment, she simply blinked absently and again, like fire itself, she exploded into life. Her tail waved behind her and her body wiggled momentarily in joy - a name! She had been given her friend's name - surely that meant they were friends. They were no longer strangers, at least.
"Banner! Name I have not heard, but... name I like," she cheered, attempting to compose herself though her features gaze away every inch of her cheer, "I am Yakone -" she motioned to the sky with her muzzle in a wide, rainbow-like motion, "named for great red sky two springs ago. Do you remember? Did you see?"
