"Blood of my ancestors.."

Volpe
"Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love.
That is our great glory, and our great tragedy."

Her mother had not conditioned her well to the ways of the herds. She had heard tales of the desert and how her family had been born in the snow, leaving her mother when she was young and naive to go to the sands and find solace and shelter there- but she had never stayed. Volpe had become as flighty as her mother, finding that she was easily comforted by being alone, finding happiness in the shadows where she was unseen by the lurkers and unnoticed by men and their concubines. She had been more than happy to go about her life on her own, to take the child that Solgar had unintentionally given her that brisk morning a long time ago, and she would live in the trees like the fairies of old that her own mother had told her about.

Here, it appeared that with every blink of the eye, there was a new creature appearing. Even with the seemingly blank look smeared across the stallion's face and the bitter glares of the red mare, Volpe is ready to turn herself out to the sea. She wanted to disappear back into the wilderness and never be seen again, except perhaps when she craved company she would go looking for the small bay mare she had met not too long ago... but there was too many people here. The final woman to join their group wears a mask of death- so it appears to the thin pale skinned mare. She is friendly, her greeting not as overpowering as that of the red woman's, but the amount of creatures crowding around at her mere appearance is more than enough to force the girl to shuffle backwards a few steps still, letting her dark eyes flick from one face to another, examining everyone slowly in turn.

I'm...” Her voice is small as she starts to answer the golden mare with the bone-white face. “... I'm sorry, I'm not looking for a home.” Volpe answers in her small, soft voice, hoping that the group that had gathered around her does not decide that she is not worth their time, and that they do not spurn her presence and force her back out into the sea. All she had wanted was to tell the blue stallion that she was to have a child, and that she had hoped that he would accept it and get to know it- for Volpe could only offer so much love to the unborn infant. Already she had contemplated finding a real home, but she had enjoyed her solitude almost too much.

Sucking air in quietly, her eyes turn towards the stallion as he seems to finally recognize her, and while she did not originally give the man her name, she did not think that she needed to. She was just another ghost in his life, but she had hoped to give him the opportunity to know at least the name of her child. “There's... I'm going to have a child, and I wanted him to know. That's all.” Somewhat defeated and embarrassed that her little secret had to be heard by the group of women instead of discreetly by the stallion's ears only. Finally having done what she came here to do, she forces a small, false smile across her lips and turns back towards the sea, hurriedly rushing towards the waves and hoping to disappear before anyone could stop her.
