Have no place I can go since I've found

Take my love.
Take my land.
Take me where I cannot stand.
I don't care,
I'm still free.
You can't take the sky from me.

Disappointment was a feeling the half leopard mare wasn't used to feeling. It sunk in deep and threatened to drown her. How she could feel this way was beyond her, but she knew it had to do with her run in with a new mother and two orphaned mares. Her welcome there had been nonexistent and she felt horrible for the way she had just ran into them. She had simply taken the change to explore her new home. This forest deal was completely new to her and she wasn't sure how to feel about it all. The trees stood tall and proud and many were beginning to grow green buds. Even the smell of her new home was different and completely new. The air seemed fresh and pure, not dry and tainted. She enjoyed it all thoroughly.

Her steps were slow as she moved through the forest. She took her leave of the last mare and the three cute babies when it became apparent that her company was not wanted. A soft sigh left her lips and her eyes looked around sadly. She felt so alone here. She also felt like she had done Vercingetorix a disservice. She had come here hoping to introduce herself to the herd and she had hoped to get to know them all, but if meeting the rest of the herd was going to go as badly as the last meeting did, she didn't know if she could do it. Sighing again, she wandered deeper in the land. She made sure to take her time as she moved; not wanting to disturb any other mare who might possibly have a child.

Eventually she reached a clearing. It was wide opened and the ground was covered in moss. The trees seemed to move in a circle, leaving an unobstructed view of the sky. Turning her head to the heavens, she enjoyed the silence and the night sky. The stars seemed bright tonight. She watched them for while, wondering what if she would find what she was looking for. To be honest, Serenity wasn't sure what she was looking for but she figured once she found it, she'd know what it was she had been seeking.

She was alone now and she wasn't sure if she enjoyed it. She didn't like being alone. It left her with thoughts of home and she didn't want to think about home. She wanted to think of the future and the great things she could accomplish. Serenity was tired of thinking of her parents and the siblings she had left behind and she was even more tired of remembering their feelings on her departure. They had constantly told her that she would amount to nothing and that she would be back before too long. Serenity was determined to stay here and make things work. So what is the other mare had wanted to kill her. The rest of the herd couldn't be like that, could they?

Indecision rears its ugly head deep in the young mare. She wants to go and seek out rest of the herd and make herself known but at the same time she doesn't want to face rejection again. Standing there in the clearing she once again turns her eyes to the stars, hoping with all the hope that she possess for an answer or even a sign on what to do next but there is nothing. Serenity can hope all she wants, but this is a problem she must face on her own. She has to build her own character and figure out who she is all on her own. She no longer has others telling her what to do or how to live. She is longer subject to mind control. The half leopard lady is her own being now and she must take that first step in being a woman and that is confronting her own problems.

Her thoughts turn back to the stallion that allowed her to follow. It is then a sense of dread fills her soul. She would hate to be a disappointment to him as well and it is with that thought swirling in her mind that she turns from her safe haven and back into the darkness. She now seeks the company of the herd she has yet to meet. She will not allow Veringetorix to be disappointed in her. He was kind of enough to put her under his protection and she would not allow him to regret that. So, holding her head up high, she moved with a new found sense of confidence. Her eyes shine bright once more and there is a smile on her face as she trots through the forest, seeking the company of another.

Take me out to the black.
Tell them I ain't comin' back.
Burn the land
And boil the sea.
You can't take the sky from me
