The forest was becoming more and more like home to the young lady. She enjoyed every moment she spent in it, even though she spent most of her time in it alone. The other ladies didn’t seem to be too friendly and Serenity was beginning to doubt she would be of much use in the herd. She had come with the intent of helping Verci, but so far she hasn’t done much but get snapped at. Snorting, she just wanders through the trees. Their branches reach out and seem to caress her skin and she doesn’t fight it. There is no pain for they do not seek to harm anyone, they just want what she wants...Company.
Smiling, Serenity wanders through the forest. She is enjoying her solitude for she is learning being alone isn’t a bad thing. It’s been so long since she’s been able to hear her own thoughts that the feeling is refreshing. The sounds of the birds flitting from tree to tree and the chitter of the squirrels is soothing. Even the sounds of her own feet upon the dead branches that have fallen from the weight of the winter past is music to her chocolate ears. Soft brown eyes take in the happy sun beams that gracefully dance between the branches. Everything about today feels just right and she is for once enjoying her own company.
Then suddenly a loud shriek crashes into her thoughts and she startles. Her ears dance as she tries to locate where it had come from and eyes look around not in a panic but with surprise. She has never heard a call in her time here and being fairly new that’s to be expected. Still, it was something new and she wasn’t quite sure on how to act but curiosity got the best of her and she decided to investigate what the sound meant.
It wasn’t long before she found not one but three others. Their scents were familiar for the land was painted in but she has never actually had the pleasure of meeting any of them. With ears perked forward in excitement she prances closer to the trio of women with an open and friendly smile. As she nears, she finds that one is colored like her but instead of having a lame half leopard look she actually has a blanket. Then she is struck by the beauty of the other two and she suddenly feels very small and very out of place but she refuses to let that stop her.
She catches the volumes of the other two ladies as she comes to a stop near them. Serenity makes a mental note of who is who and makes sure to keep her eyes on the one that is speaking. She doesn’t want to be rude you know. She’s just happy to have a break from the new found solitude, even if it is for just a moment. After all have had their say, she opens her own mouth to speak, “Hiya! I’m Serenity! I don’t think I’ve met any of you guys before but I am sure delighted to meet you all.” There is a wide smile on her lips and a shine to eyes. They all speak volumes on her innocence and naivety but she has a big heart and a determination to learn all that she can about those around her.
