and the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting...

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floorShall be lifted - nevermore!

It is probably for the best that Blackmore is fully incapable of reading emotions, at least, reading them well. Emotions worn via a strange smile or an abnormal twitch of the ears will be acknowledged quietly by the large black, though very rarely does he understand the meaning of a sly smile or an irritated twitch of the ears. For the longest time he was sheltered from the world, living within a hell where plenty of damned creatures tore at each other, all the while attempting to protect himself and his brother from the abnormally harsh reactions of his herdmates. All too many times a sadistic smile would spread across their lips, leaving Blackmore to decipher what it was they were planning so wickedly in their silence. Yet, those smiles only bear a very small resemblence to sly smiles out in the real world - a world that wasn't as cruel as he had been led to believe for the longest of years. It is his inability to read such smiles, however, that has him rather disgusted with himself and disappointed in the same motion. Blackmore is unaware that his motions towards himself - the pinned ears - cause unsettlement in the mare before him. Before he can even catch a real glimpse of any unease, her smile has changed into something that brings Blackmore much relief from his mental scoldings.

Relief that hardly lasts but a minute.

His sutter had been caught, and one of his greatest fears he must now give as an answer to but a simple question. It takes a deep sigh eminating from deep in his chest that helps ease the pressure that seemed to be built on a foundation of anxiety and nerves. Blackmore could so easily pass the question by, but it is not in his nature, leaving him to stumble through his mind, looking for a way to explain the situation he has found himself in. "A friend - a herdmate -- mare..." The more he stumbles over the words the more nervous he seems to become, as his need, his want, to find her starts to overwhelm him greatly. "Heavily pregnant -- the water caught her just right, swept her away. Went after her when I realized what happened but by then I couldn't tell which island she ended up on. I've scanned through them all... but I can't find her." A voice, once soft and gentle is now a bit louder, and full of incredible tension as he grinds his teeth in nervous habit, side stepping slightly with his unease. There is no denying the fact this stallion has great appreciation for his mares, his friends... his family. And it truly does trouble him greatly to know that one of his friends is lost, pregnant and lost, on these seemingly unforgivable islands. Every day he silently prays that she ends up meeting someone kind, that won't harm her, won't try to steal her, won't scare her.

Though, Adelaide is probably a lot stronger and a bit more courageous then he gives her credit for, but he's worrying himself sick so give the poor stallion some credit.

What unease was there suddenly disappeared as his head snaps back at attention, ears pricked towards the buckskin to catch her response to what he had said previously. She'll stay? She'll stay. SHE'LL STAY! Excitement cannot be smothered as it sparks deep within his dark brown eyes, glimmering brightly like a full moon on the clearest of nights. Things have been going better then Blackmore ever could have expected, considering where he comes from and what little experience in life he truly has, but if life continues like this he surely can't complain! Another friend! Another family member, maybe! It's like a kid in a candy store, with his excitement levels. "Oh - I do hope it's for a little bit more then a bit... I... I quite.... enjoy talking to you..." Blackmore, one who usually speaks softly and with his head towards his chest in meekness is actually out in the open with this statement, much like a giddy foal, at this point yet still oddly mature about it. He's definitely gaining more confidence as the days go by, and Svetlana sure is helping boost that confidence even more. "Not many rules, really... y'can come and go whenever you want - at your own risk during breeding season, though... but as long as there is a semblence of peace I'm not complainin'!" Something about the buckskin has Blackmore more extroverted, perhaps it is because he is standing in his home, a place that he is slowly working hard to keep active and flourishing.

No matter the reason, Blackmore is starting to blossom into one hell of an optimist.
