and the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting...

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floorShall be lifted - nevermore!

Eventually there will come a time when questions arise as to his generousity towards his brother, giving a young stallion who acts like a mere colt such a title as being his second-in-command. Some may fear when other begin to question this decision, but deep inside of Blackmore's heart he fears nothing in regards to questioning. Not many would give their slow-learning colt-like brother a second chance at a life he never could have otherwise, choosing to forego a true Second stallion just to give his brother the chance at feeling like he can fit into this world. Very few will ever learn of their hardships, of their abused, neglected and ruled-by-fear past, something both boys tend to keep to themselves, between themselves... their not so little secret. His decision with Legion is something he will defend whole-hearted, and with a passion and strength that will shock many of those that may try and question him. Though, should Rosaline ever inquire as to his decision, he doubts he'll have to defend himself, no, he'd just merely explain. The painted beauty seems the type to be understanding, someone that has sympathy towards others. This is just one of many reasons as to why her company is highly enjoyed by the black giant.

However, the event of any questions will not present itself for a little while, yet. Legion has taken to hiding within the ridge crevices, dealing with his own internal demons that Blackmore helps defeat, sometimes on a daily basis, sometimes not quite as often. There is almost nothing Blackmore wouldn't do to help his brother, and to also protect him from any cruelty the world may attempt to throw at them. It is with this same fierce loyalty that makes Blackmore an ideal leader, as he will fight just as hard for his herd as he does for his brother. It is his herd, his friends, and more importanty his family. He does not particularly say he "rules" over the ridge, but more or less, leads the herd. To him there is very little in terms of ranking, as he views many as equals, the leading mare will present herself in time, someone strong, but kind, quick on her feet and able to think of a quick solution to things. A herd of peace, at least, that is what Blackmore hopes, and it seems promising with Adelaide and Rosaline, though Adelaide still hasn't appeared, which is a concern to the large black stallion.

"I don't think I'll ever want to rid myself of your company, really..." If Blackmore could subtly blush, he would be doing so right now as he offers a kind smile towards the brilliantly colored mare. There is a strength about this mare that Blackmore desperately wishes he could replicate within himself, it gives him something to strive for and she is such a great example with her wisdom and kindness. No, he will fight hard to keep her safe, until the day she leaves - which would be on her own accord, or if something happens to Blackmore. Both options don't seem relevent to the current time, and that is some sort of comfort. "Wandering is a natural habit... I don't mind it." His words are soft, but there is a strong reassurance to his tone as he nods slightly, as if to solidfy his words even more. During the breeding season, his mares will still be allowed to meander throughout the islands, but at their own risk. Should they come back beaten or pregnant, he will welcome the foal without problem, all the while finding out who was behind it, and going after them just to prove he won't stand by and watch his mares get abused while they innocently wander.

There is a strength deep inside of Blackmore that he doesn't realize, perhaps with the help of mares like Rosaline, he will come to see this strength over the course of time.

"Don't really have many rules, here... do as you want... things outside of the herd are at your own risk. There is very little I won't forgive, honestly... just want a nice herd... nice friends.... family." Blackmore's stuttering seems to be getting better the more he relaxed he feels, and though moments arise where he pauses for a brief moment, he no longer seems to fight for his words, which is a nice feeling for him.
