and the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting...

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

Back and forth and back and forth, every day the same motion as Blackmore nearly paces a hole through to the center of the Earth, each day hoping that one day he will be able to look upon Adelaide's kind face. Desperation had long since been spent, and no more time can be taken away from his home in order to look for the mare that the water stole away from him. How many times did Blackmore search for his dear friend, hoping that she was okay and that her foal would be alright as well? How many times did he lose track of the scent, returning back home empty handed and feeling worry deep within his chest. It never occurred to him that for the sake of her strength and the strength of her foal, Adelaide would have stayed within a herd land, which is a relatively unsafe thing to do but as a pregnant mare she really didn't have many options. All her options had some form of danger, but Blackmore will be glad to hear she met a nice stallion who could keep her safe, assuming he ever got to that part. As today is like all the others, starting out with him pacing to and fro without relenting for a single moment. Heat seems to absorb into his very essence and soul as sweat collects upon his coat, trickling down his body, trying to get some reaction out of him.

There is a reaction, but it's not from the sweat falling down his large body, but of a sound that is shrill across the air as it resounds through the ridge walls. There is a familiarity to the strange noise and a leap in his chest signals to him that this is what his heart has been desperately waiting for. She's safe! But it was such a shrill call, is she in danger? Is she being chased? Is she okay? There is not a moment of hesitation as slender legs lift up only to slam back down, hooves colliding with earth with such force that sends a smell tremor through the air as a sprint causes his legs to stretch out as far as he can manage, eating up the ground with each stride in hopes of getting to her faster, wanting to make sure she's okay. Forget about answers to his questions, he just wants to make sure Adelaide is safe, without a scratch on her. Every day he's felt bad for losing track of her in the water, every day he feels bad for having not found where she had ended up. Every day he craved to see her kind face with those eyes that just made Blackmore feel encouraged. He just wants to make sure she's safe and happy, and hopefully still willing to reside within the Ridge.

It's her, it's really here.

For a moment the stallion's legs lock, hooves sliding against the ground as a cloud of dusts surrounds his black frame, his eyes looking upon her, wanting to believe it is her. There has been many times when an illusion danced across his predominantly sandy terrain, but this seems far too real, the noise against the air was far too real. And once again Blackmore sets off frantically towards her, slowing down only when he's close enough to practically slide to a halt beside her but not before putting the breaks on even more. So, for the second time today, an explosion of dusts comes up around him as he stops a few feet short of Adelaide and... a foal? Curiousity and joy blossoms within Blackmore's eyes as he looks upon the foal, his head lowered and stretched out towards Kaden but still keeping a distance, not sure how protective this mare is of her child. But at the same time, sadness comes about his eyes as he realized what he had missed. He had hoped that he would be around when Adelaide gave birth, to protect her and her foal but that didn't seem to be the case. At least he can find great joy in the fact both dam and colt are healthy and this causes his eyes to shift up towards Adelaide, his head slowly rising up to be more on her level (which still means his head is relatively low considering his height). "Adelaide..." His voice is soft and hopeful, honestly hoping this isn't his mind just playing tricks on him again.

"You're safe... you're alive..." Blackmore can't help it, his need to hold her is too strong. He rushes to her side, still careful to be on the opposite side as Kaden to give the foal space, all the while snaking his head around her neck and withers, in a form of a hug as he just holds as tight as he can. Softly he nuzzles her skin, as if assuring himself that she is a real solid mass of flesh and bone, she is no illusion that cannot be touched. "I looked - where did you end up? I couldn't find where you had landed - I caught your scent a few times but kept losing it. I couldn't leave this place unprotected for long... I wanted to search all day and all night for you... are you okay? Were you hurt? Is he okay? He's beautiful - you're beautiful - I'm so sorry, Adelaide, please please forgive me... I tried but I just... I just couldn't find you... please believe me, I tried..." Blackmore could feel himself rambling but he could not stop the torrent of words as he backed up, his legs constantly shifting beneath him, anxious as ever to be forgiven or damned for his lack of finding her. No matter her answer though his nose reaches towards her neck, nuzzling her before going back to hugging her once more, his neck gently draped diagonally across her neck and withers, nuzzling still. He wants to believe it, he does believe it but her forgiveness remains a mystery for now.

I was going to wait for Kaden but Blackmore wouldn't settle down XD He missed his Ade <3
