Observations from the bus Posted on March 23, 2013 at 11:19:18 AM by Nath Rockhill
From the Quaker Oaks Facebook page: Today was another helpless day for us humans, east of the Rockies. March sucks this year. Today, as we mope, believe me, the landscape is changing. From my bus, my theater, I have witnessed a murder.... of crows (in poplar), a conspiracy of ravens , a rafter of turkeys, a murmuration of starlings ( on red Sumach, really good ), a quarrel of sparrows (outside the store window daily) and a descent of woodpeckers ( on our cedar siding ). I have not found a word for a group of robins, so I'm going for a "breast" of robins (10 together on the Sadowa Rd.). Two red wing blackbirds ( just a couple ), and one gorgeous rough legged hawk, round out this day. The animals are talking (maple trees too!). Are you listening? Get happy!
