LADY GLOW
mare; lipizzan; grey; 15'2hh; 8;
played by meggieboo

it had been quite a while since she's seen an area so vast and wide. Her younger years were free of course, but then a tragedy had happened which whisked her away from her happy yet not so perfect life. Her eyes, which seemed a pale blue against her white face lifted slightly at the sounds of dogs barking. She didn't have much time. Moving with as much grace as an Arabian, she galloped across the turned up dirt and grass. No fences stood in her way as she headed away from the dingy old corral behind her. This place had been her life for a while, but those two legged things could never touch her or break her. They had brought her here months ago, and she waited around for the perfect time to clear the fence. They couldn't catch her so easily now, but how had they gotten a hold of her in the first place?

She can easily play the memory over in her head, the man who she partially blamed for a while she hadn't forgotten. If they hadn't had that stupid fight, and he'd have left that demon herd, both would be fine and she would have never had to live in such confine places. She had loved and cared for him, but when he got worse she had enough. That day she had ran and ran. It was when a slow moving fog came in that the two legs found her on their round up. Tossing ropes around her neck when she was in a time of depression, it was how they got her, but she did put up a fight until they set the dogs on her. Two black beasts that had dug into her legs and her mass of white mane. Only then did she leave. It pained her every day that Vetty would never know what had happened, and would think her dead.

but, today was the day she was going to change that. Another bark rang in her ears, and pushing herself further, the crashing waves of the ocean in her sights she leaped past the rocky borderline; landing gracefully before launching into the water. She could have taken her time, but no, she had to return home to him. She hadn't broken free of her captors for nothing. She snorted and scrambled for footing on the rough sands below until she felt nothing and willed herself to let the water carry her.
------------
The morning passed by without a land it sight, but it was only when the sun was about to set did she spy the vast shadowy shape ahead. The glowing orb that was her only light soon sank down behind it as her hoofs met sand, and she dragged her limp body out and away from the coldness. She soon collapsed a good few feet away. The swimming had taken hours, a whole day. Despite her heavy breathing, she lifts her face and is shocked by what she finds. She is met with more and more sand, rolling hills of it. This was not her home, so where was she? Flaring her delicate pink nostrils, she breathed in the smells of other equines, not the musky odor the two legged beasts carried.

Shifting her legs, she pushed herself up, deciding this was not the time to simply rest on such a strange land. The strong smell of a stallions scent sent shivers down her spine. She was expecting the worst as she stood here, awaiting the arrival of many demon brutes. Would they harm such an angel as her? Not wanting to stay so exposed so soon, she moves deeper into the lands, vulnerable without someone by her side. She seemed like a ghost in the night out on a nightly run, her chin tucked to her chest as her neck arched and she stretched her legs further to take longer strides across the sand.
