tonight, my head is spinning; I NEED SOMETHING TO PICK ME UP ______________________________________________
What she was doing screamed challenge, and Covet was trying to keep himself from the need to put her in her place or worse. It just wasn't working, and all she was doing was giving him visual indications of hosility. It had caused him to act, to attempt one final time to let her cool her own aggressive stance before he was forced to attack. It was instinct, and had very little to do with any want for further blood. She hadn't left when he told her to, and with all of these things rolling through his mind... what was he suppost to think? Or do, for that matter?
Every second that passed was him giving her a chance to back down and go. At least until he snapped and push her into a response. Either attack as all her signal promised, or submit. There were only two choices here for her, and he had to make her choose one. She was a threat for as long as she kept this up. Her snarls did not deter him, because her whole body told him she was going to attack anyway. He wanted to get it over with, or at least started. Covet needed the standstill to end.
And then her actions that occurred after his teeth enclosed over her muzzle made him pause and stare at her. Finally a submissive act from her, followed by more growling and raised hackles. Was she fucking insane? Mixed signals were starting to make him see red. She was obviously not completely healthy to be acting like this. She had to be missing some very vital wolf instincts. This behavior was not normal. And coming from a creature that drank blood, that was saying something. At least he still had the key wolf instincts to work with.
When she lept at him, Covet did not jump back; this attack was what he was waiting for. Instead, he launched himself back at her and threw his weight at her, teeth snapping for her scruff, her shoulder, her leg or anything he could try to gain a grip on. Anything would work, anything that might make her think about backing down and submitting. Or he could simply crush the life from her if she did not give up. Covet was in a bad mood by now, but he would not lose focus. Something had to give.
