Serenity

Serenity watches with a curious indifference as the foal takes her leave. A part of her is saddened that she is so visibly upset and the thought to follow her does pass through her mind, but she stands her ground. As much as she wants to go chasing after the young girl with the intentions of making her feel better, she knows it is a better decision to stay where she is. The main reason she stays is because she doesn’t know the young filly and while there a numerous of other ones, the next reason she stays is obvious. She stays for Owl.

The light woman’s words do not go above our little lady’s head. She is quite aware that her speech had been a stab of some kind, but she brushes it off with a smile. “Well, my mama had other plans for me and dontcha know they just didn’t go.” She could have fought back with cruel words of her own, but that is below our weirdly painted female. She has learned not to fight fire with fire, but instead with a cool indifference or in her case, a smile. A smile goes a long, long way. Serenity learned a valuable lesson when she was just a filly and that was to be happy all the time, even if it annoys the crap out of someone. She was true to herself and that’s all she cares for.

She watches with a dopey and delighted grin as Owl decides to make herself a part of their little gathering. Her heart soars and she feels a sense of happiness that has been lacking on her part since her arrival into the forest. While she is crazy about Torix, she knows he is a busy man and doesn’t push him to mingle with her. No, Owl is her first (what she likes to think real) friend in the forest and she is just super happy to have her join them.

Now if she were capable of hopping about like pinkie pie, she would have done just that. She would have done circles around the group to show her crazy bundle of joy but instead she throws her head up and down and lets out an excited cry. She prances in place for a little while before flicking her tail and settling right on down. She gives Torix a bashful smile but she doesn’t even think about apologizing for her actions for one second. She was a packaged deal and if he didn’t like what she did, tough. Serenity didn’t even care what the other thought about her actions. She was happy and by golly she was going to show it.

Suddenly she picks up on the nervousness of her friend and her guard goes up. She looks at Verci with a sense of dread. He’s going to kick her out! crosses her mind for a split second and what does she do? She puts herself between Owl and him. She gives him a smile but there is a stern look to her face. It looks so out of place on our ever hyper lady, but at the moment she is on a mission and that mission is to make sure her friend isn’t kicked out or even worse, hurt.

“Owl means no harm, Captain. She needed a place to stay and I thought she was already one of yours. If it helps, I’ll vouch for her and keep an eye on her if you’re worried about her. I’d swear to it, I’d swear she’s the nicest and most delightful company I’ve had since my arrival.” Her words are simple and perhaps a bit childish (she is still fairly new to herd dynamics that aren’t her families), but they’re true and they are strong. She would do anything to protect Owl, not that she thinks he would do anything to her, but nonetheless, she’d stand her ground and make sure that Owl was kept safe at all times.
