There have been several documented incidents of mountain lion presence in Rhode Island, that experts verified. You can find the info on them here and elsewhere. Another "reporting" site tried to dismiss these, even with the mountain of evidence that only a mountain lion could have left the evidence present. Three seperate experts came to the same conclusion.
I just saw posted also the the 1997 quabbin DNA verified in Massachuetts was of "south american" origin. Im told by DNA experts that the ability to distinguish that level of detail didnt exist in 1997. Several groups have requested samples to retest this, but its no longer avaiable since the original testing (by multiple agencies) used it all up. Im also told that some of the recent scat tests that have come back as coyote, may be being misread. Since mountain lions are feeding on cougars, their hair and other items in the scat may be corrupting the tests. We have had numerous "high quality" sightings in Western Massachusetts, and in North Central CT over the last 8 months. Stay tuned, better evidence is not far away. Replies:
