Syllfamere had not always been an island lost at sea. Once, a bridge of land connected the island to the mainland. It was this bridge that brought the creature Luciro to the island. He and his army wiped out all the major herds, killing any who would not join them. It was during this massacre that something strange happened. A thick white fog drifted over the island, sudden and quiet as death. It was so thick that it forced Luciro’s army to return to the mainland. The fog remained for days, and when it finally cleared, those left alive could see that the bridge of land had been swallowed by the ocean, harmlessly submerged under the ocean’s surface. It has been two years since the ocean took back the land, those who make it to Syllfamere across the wide expanse of wicked sea are far and few between, but slowly the horses of Syllfamere recover. As if to remind the survivors and newcomers of what happened, what could happen again, the fog returns every day, thick and quiet, before leaving just as quickly. Syllfamere is a place of magic and mystery, but also fear and waiting. The sea is unpredictable, the fog ominous and cloying… Luciro waits for the day he can finish what he started.
