Muérdago easily felt her father's hot breath as he took in her scent and nudged her forward. The petite child watched the mares closely. Maybe someone would take her in. Her striped back quivered as another itty-bitty droplet of icy cold water hit it. Looking back to her father, her eyes showed that of a strong and courageous filly. One that would not back down in the slightest bit. That was a look of promise. The look that said, "Father, I promise I'll pull through. I'll find my way and I won't back down." Muérdago's pale blue gazers looked back to the mares. There were not any other foals yet. But soon, very soon, there would be. Then, it happened. The discovery of other life. Muérdago looked up into the sky at the birds flapping around. She had not the slightest idea of what a bird was yet, but she'd find out. The petite sable was intelligent. After all, she had gotten the father part right. Being observant had it's benefits.
As more and more mares awoke, Muérdago became more and more interested. Even better, she was interested in her home and her father, Vercingtorix. But now, she began to wonder, where had Dresden, her mother, gone? What would ever happen to poor Muérdago? Exploring a bit, she sniffed at the ground and chased a bird or two before seeing a cocoon of a butterfly. Knowing there was a faint color inside of it interested her. Ignoring it after a few minutes, she began to prance around. Just thinking of the anticipation growing inside of her made her feel like she'd blow up. Could she not have a mother? Would she be killed by her father or the second stallion that roamed somewhere nearby? How in the world Muérdago could survive, nobody knew. All that Muérdago knew was that she'd pull through, through the darkness and into the light. Being small may be difficult, but this was only the beginning. Replies:
