The restless Clydesdale could wait no longer for the two that may have followed him here. Yes; he was concerned about their safety and hoped that they could swim, but he would find them again sooner or later. He had just finished his meal of grass and had plenty of energy to sprint up the steep slope of the dune. The top enticed him and he could no longer resist its calls. Nimbus faced the sand and took heavy breaths to prepare himself. He sprinted. The climb was difficult, not only did he have to gallop forward, but upward too. He thrusted his body against gravity while sand flew out from under his hooves. He reached an area that leveled out, revealing an expanse of sand. He could not stop here, though, because there was more to climb to the left and he might be able to see the entire area from the top. Sweat ran down Nimbus's neck and shoulders just to fall off at his middle. Soon, he made it to the top. Both the treacherous climb and the view left him breathless.
Over the edge to the West he saw dunes stretching out which gave way to green hills close to the horizon. The sky in that direction was turning to the blues and the blacks of night. He turned. To the East he saw the setting sun burning the sky, but more importantly he saw stormy clouds over the sea. They worked their way towards him while they flashed lightning, and soon they blotched out the sun. He eagerly waited underneath a tree on the top of the dune. The lightning traveled closer and closer until there was one last thunderous clap. Finally, Nimbus was drenched in rain that washed away all anger and confusion. There was just him and the storm. He released a long overdue scream of excitment and watched the lightning dance around his new home all around him. His new home.
