Hailip had made use of a smaller dune a bit off from the beach they sloped off into. It seemed to almost cut up on itself, creating a sort of one-sided pit that swam in cool air and shade in the afternoons. The gentle temperature of the sands lulled her hooves and ankles, which became tired of the pace through the gritty waste very quickly. There wasn't much keeping the red splashed mare here. In truth, it was the exact terrain she solely hated, or so she convinced herself in the first few weeks. All sun, all bleached earth, all small rocks. The few trees were scattered, and the best shade was where she first met the younger mare, Kahawa, and had seen her father make a scene. It was a location marked with memories, and she didn't favor returning very soon. And so she found her pit, and almost enjoyed trotting softly into it beneath the radar of the others. It was calm and quiet, things the shifting moods of her stallion claimer rarely gave.

She had been spending a descent afternoon there, breathing deep the stagnant air that chilled itself in the shade with relief as she had. And nothing disturbed her, though she fidgeted her ears around anyway. This particular evening, she felt suited to go ahead and dig her knees into the suave sands, laying down with her belly in a nest of unheated ground pebbles. She was relaxing in the peak of serenity, beginning in this shade not to mind her forced presence here. But then she heard a faint kick into the dusty slopes around her, and a quieter still murmur. There was not much that kept her here. Just a stallion that consumed her curiosity.

Every sense perked. The steps were heavy, and didn't seem to resemble the frolic Kahawa normally took. That meant it was him, didn't it? It meant it enough to satisfy Hailip...she hauled her crimson figure up from where she lay, eyes narrowing while a slow walk led her to the edge of her shaded ditch. Hesitantly, her head rounded the slope's corner. And there he was. A smile touched her lips, biting back the instant it came. She shrank out of view again for a moment, and then, composing herself to a tall stride, cantered out from her dimmer lit dwelling. A quick whip of her main begged his attention, because she didn't especially care to do as much as say 'oh, hello.' With the white strands settled back to her neck, she peered sideways at him, as though to contemplate walking up. She rose her head a little in falsified decision, and tilted her walk to meet near where he had stopped himself.

"Nimbus." She nodded in greeting, dipping her head low before returning to a height that could meet his eyes. Before saying too much, she longed to see what attitude he would hold. Before she came around to him, his pace seemed biting and potentially angry, though with him all she could expect was not to expect any reasonable response. It was a struggle to keep a smile from her mouth, for she wanted his reaction to her unbiased, but her eyes failed her. They stared with a childlike awe, pondering brightly what he may do. To figure his sturdily screwed mind out was enough to always draw her in, and it was all the reason her dune-loathing hide needed to stay, as well. It wasn't much, but it was enough for her.
