aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Asher's flighty little mind was thick in the forest's darkness, swirling around all that was to be had inside, fixating on the luscious little rumors he had heard when his flicking ears forced his eyes to perk upwards at the fast-forming shape that emerged from the trees. He stepped back, naturally, but his grin grew exponentially. Asher held his shoulders high, but his head hung low at the end of his neck, eyes beaming upwards at the grayed wolf before him. He hung his tongue out his mouth as he breathed, tasting the air, and his tail swooned behind him. He could tell by this one's presence that he had some manner of authority - only wolves with a good deal of self-respect carried themselves so tall - and it made his insides tickle. Though his paws were still, his claws came in and out, working the dirt. He just had too much excitement pent up to keep still. And it was maddening, how it swelled inside him.

The wolf was steady, and spoke with the same dominance his posture held when he threatened Asher into moving back. Oh, what a spine-tingle it gave the white fool. With his breaths, a quiet, deep-throated snigger slipped from his lunges and his eyes swam over the other wolf, careful to watch for any sudden moves that may follow his aggressive statement, though he doubted there was much reason for violence at this point. Unless tha's just th' kinda fun they got down here, he thought, and his shoulders jumped once in a silent, held-back laugh when he thought of it. Actually, it'd been quite a while since he'd tasted blood. It that stuff ever a pain to lick out of a white coat... He imagined the pail-bellied beast afront him could sympathize.

"Kalgalath," He repeated, letting his tongue roll over the word, and his eyes brightened. Shoot, he humored, my first day an' I catch me an Alpha's time? I mus' be one lucky son... With only a moment's hesitation, he took some strolling steps forward, sniffing vainly the air closer to Kalgalath's hide. His eyes squinted in a little twinkle of self-loathing when he gathered no scent, but his smile hadn't faded.

"Ah'm Asher, and well, heh..." He looked at the ground a moment, then glanced back up at the gray wolf. "I wanna make your business my business. That is, boss, I'm sure an extra set o'teeth could be handy somewhere 'round here, huh?" His grin twitched once and his posture, though unchanged, stiffened a hair. He knew it was a bit of a make-or-break-for-it moment, and he had to be ready to bolt back towards lone-wolfdom in the case of an... undesirable response. Asher was used to having to rough it, and even more so he was accustomed to getting a few more 'undesirable responses' than warranted, but that didn't mean he couldn't pent up a bit of hope. Heck, Asher's every-day life was riddled with wild fancies. It was just a matter of which ones panned out.
