GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
give up forever to touch you

Frail creature though she is, there is a fire to her as Iris takes off in enthusiastic pursuit of her sire. The filly casts off the cloak of her fears and doubts of the stranger as only a child is capable of, fixating on the present and discarding the uncertainty of her future. She cannot forget the stranger in their midst, however, and the mare is prominent in her mind as she bounds ahead of Gnome, then slows her pace to match his, her expression becoming focused, intent as the thread of her thoughts takes an inevitable - and dangerous - turn. It had not occurred to Iris that her small and intimate family unit might someday grow - but now that the idea is present, the potential for a young playmate excites her so much that her words tumble over each other in their haste to be heard.

"If Jessa is going to stay with us, do you think she will bring another foal for me to play with?" Iris wonders aloud, her tone imploring and her eyes beseeching the blanketed stallion for an affirmative answer. It isn't that she doesn't enjoy her father's company - she is excited at the prospect of today's promised adventure - but these moments were a rare treasure, and Lily is too protective to venture away from the security of home with her frail daughter. Iris loves her mother with the same fierce devotion that Lilika feels for her, but the blue roan mare is a more quiet and reserved individual than the man she loves, and not often up for adventure the way that Gnome is. Thinking of her mother, however, has given Iris another idea that she hastens to voice. "Or do you think that maybe you and Mother could find another foal like you found Jessa?"

In the blissful ignorance of her youth, she is unaware of the discomfort this question will be met with. She remembers nothing of her harrowing birth, and is not likely to understand the fears of her parents that make the possibility of a younger sibling an impossibility. The world Iris lives in is untouched by darkness and danger.
