She was strange, Fundamental could not argue with that. During their brief contact she had reacted in a way he was not expecting but that was quickly washed away as she began making demands with her ears laced back against her poll, burying beneath her mane. A smirk tugged upon his lips once more as he watched her retreating form, finding it funny that she dare tell him to leave upon his own land. Surely this mare had not had very much social time in her life, with no stallion to teach her how she was supposed to act. Fundamental found it refreshing that this mare was out of the ordinary that she did not behave in the everyday way each woman was taught. If it was breeding season he might have even been turned on.


Hooves pulling free of the sand, Fundamental slowly follows her. As she has been walking away he had been given the opportunity to completely look at her but now that moment was over as she stood alone beneath the tree. The mare looked lonely, the lowering sun casting shadows across them to make her seem even lonelier. Whether she actually was or not he truly didn’t know. She didn’t appear so, her attitude speaking loud and clear she wanted to BE alone. But he had never been one to listen very well when it came to demands.


“Surely you don’t mean to stand beneath this tree all night” he said, his ears flicking forward to catch her response. Though he was new to this territory he was not new to this Island. Being raised in the cove he knew better than to stand practically out in the open like this and upon his first day here Fundamental had made sure to find adequate shelter for more than one member should any women decide to stay within his borders. But this mare didn’t live here, didn’t even show any sort of respect to the protector of this land. Surely he should not be showing this sort of mercy to a stranger.
