aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

Foolish…i-idiot! Kohaku’s vocals rang out, aimed at the Prince. And then the prince’s words were spat out at Kalgalath, causing another growl to rumble loudly form his vocals. Do that and you won’t be dragging yourself back, king of Aurora Borealis. Your wolf threatened violence without provocation. I tuck my tail for no one. The mottled grey brute snapped his jaws at the brute in warning. He was upon dangerous ground. “As any would do if a wolf with another pack’s scent trespassed upon foreign ground. No harm was done, as seen. And while you may be a good fighter, you will not be able to win this fight.” For her part, Chenzii remained calm and still despite even the reveal that Kalgalath had knowledge of Kohaku’s identity and person. Magic presently slid up to his side, addressing him but focused clearly upon the brute, once more proving her loyalty to him. But it appeared to be lost on the snowed fae herself. For even as the brute commanded her to his side, he could see that this would not go as planned. The white fae was frozen in place, even backing up a step. The Prince’s words slipped out again, irking Kalgalath. She is not yours! She belongs to no one! How dare you claim her like a possession, you piece of worthless filth! The King’s vocals were quick and swift, his stiff tail flicking just once to the side, his rage clear. “She has made an eternal vow to me!” His voice bellowed from him like thunder, but he softened just slightly as he saw how clearly the prince cared for her. That was why he was here. Not as a slight against Aurora Borealis nor against Kalgalath… he was here out of love for the femme.

Help. Kohaku’s voice was soft and silent. And help was exactly what he planned to do. The whole point of the vow that she made to him was to keep her away from the prince. She wanted to be worth something, to be admired. He could teach her morals. He could show her what he believed in – that everyone was important. Fae or not, she had heart. A heart that she did not want to be broken by young love. Kalgalath had promised to protect her and keep her from Nikandros in return for her eternal loyalty. But, the grey titan did not take vows or oaths or promises lightly. This slight on her part bristled his pride and his coat. The Prince rushed to her side and murmured words of comfort to her. Shh, I’m here. It’s okay, I’m here. He glances toward Magic briefly, clearly ready for a fight. It would be a fight that would kill him. Even the best of wolves could not take on three others and hope to survive. “Kohaku.” The word was quiet, but commanding. “You must come with me. You have made a vow of loyalty to me. You came to ME. Fulfill your vow and come to my side, unless you would like to see Nikandros be torn apart by me and the pack. I cannot allow the continued disrespect of his presence on my land nor his clear insolence when it comes to deference for me and my pack. So, Kohaku, the choice is yours. Fulfill your oath to me and do as I say, or condemn the Prince of Malignant Felicity to death.” It was perhaps the coldest thing that Kalgalath ever said. He tended to be a caring and understanding soul, but loyalty and honesty was at the center of his being.

He owed to his pack safety, and the Prince threatened all of that. He knew what love could make oneself do – crazy things. There was no way that the prince would back down, that much was clear by his words and actions thus far. But he felt for the fae and the predicament that she was now in, and so the choice was one he would leave up to her. Nikandros’ blood would be the first shed upon his packlands to protect it, and he would only do it if it was completely necessary. “Kohaku. Make your choice.” Each second was spoken singularly and strongly. Emphatically. This was the point of no return.
