aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Her words did not fall on deaf ears, though they were soft and hardly audible even to herself. Nikandros' reaction to Kalgalath's words... stung her heart and made her want to bury deeper into him, as he had tempted her with just a touch against her mug. She is not yours! She belongs to no one! How dare you claim her like a possession, you piece of worthless filth! And now he was right there beside her, touching her as she wished he would-- and she leaned into it as quickly as her body would allow her. Shh, I'm here. It's okay, I'm here. It was just that... that was the reason why she was frightened. Because if he was there and if Kalgalath was there... that meant that... her voice hushed, she whispered into his flesh Please… She wanted to finish her sentence… ask him never to leave her side as he had asked her-- but one thing brought her right back to reality, shooting her down with an arrow straight through the chest. Kohaku. her audettes twitched from where they had been flattened against her cranial as she had dove into his crimson fleece. You must come with me. You have made a vow of loyalty to me. You came to ME. Fulfill your vow and come to my side, unless you would like to see Nikandros be torn apart by me and the pack. I cannot allow the continued disrespect of his presence on my land nor his clear insolence when it comes to deference for me and my pack. So, Kohaku, the choice is yours. Fulfill your oath to me and do as I say, or condemn the Prince of Malignant Felicity to death. She had stopped breathing. She couldn't breathe. Not even if his cologne was surrounding her as she desperately wanted it to. She opened her amber portals wide and she felt a lump form in her throat. Condemn him? One moment she was in his grasp, and the next she stumbled away, nearly falling over her own pathetic feet. The wise wolf... thrown into a situation that she could not decide an answer to? Fear echoed around in her mirrors. Fear so real to her that she knew not what to do with it. Her audettes flattened even further, and her gaze trembled as it flew to the ground beneath her pale pillars. Kohaku. Make your choice.

The image of those three wolves, as a new ebon female had joined the gang, ganging up on Nikandros' lone form... she couldn't take it. She just couldn't. She had only cried twice in her life. And this was the third time. She couldn’t even feel herself squint as her portals began to leak out. The tears just streamed down her cheeks as a river winds away from the mountains that gave birth to it. His blood would be everywhere... on the rocks, in the soil, smeared on the trees so different than those of Malignant... and worst of all... it would be on her paws because she had led him here. She had sealed his fate. So, the white miss with the orange disc in the center of her brows turned and tugged herself to Kalgalath. Each step brought her heavy heart even closer to the ground than it had been before. She dare not look back at him, for she would not be able to leave his side; his death would be hers as well.

When she reached Kalgalath's side, she stepped so that her shoulder met his, and then she continued onward, her watery portals, red with emotion, met his, and she bit her lip, causing the skin to break, and a thin trail of blood to fall from her flesh to her chin and drip on the ground as she continued. But not before she spoke to him as well, just a short phrase that was enough to get the point across: Do not paint the roses red with his blood. Keep to this promise and I will keep to mine. He would have to hurry, as she knew that once she was too far away to smell him, she would turn right back to the demon. She would caterwaul for his presence and she would not be able to turn around again as she had just now. But Kohaku made a mistake in the moment that she was about to disappear into the foliage, scenting where Kalgalath had come from and guessing that perhaps his den would suffice as a meeting point as the border patrol did what must be done... so long as that wasn't harming Nikandros. She would be able to know as well... and she would stay true to those words she had whispered to Kalgalath on her way past him. Her mistake... was looking over her shoulder. Her amber suns were touched by a hint of clouds, a storm threatening to darken those beautiful skies. Defeat was written all over her body. She turned her head forwards painfully slowly and she squared her shoulders loosely, and moved forward, exiting the scene. Anything that followed afterwards was up to the others. Kohaku was running. Why was it... that when her heart was in danger of being maimed that she ran? Not that her heart had already been torn... but she struggled to pick up those last few pieces and keep them safe in her arms.
