Re(3): mountain lion sighting in Franklin County

Having grown up in the woods in Western MA, and having numerous relatives that were expert hunters, I can tell you without question there are occasional mountain lions around. I saw one with my father when I was six. Since the other parent surveyed bobcat populations and often took one of us along, my father was quick to point out not to go near the "big cats" like these. It crossed the road in front of us and "froze" briefly in headlights, clearly visible. I had one relative bow hunting, (wildlife author), see one also back then. (1960's). They have been around right along, there just are not many and they are elusive. Prints were taken in Goshen, MA, Blandford, MA, and Agawam in the past as well. The Goshen ones were taken by a federal wildlife official, and verified by a university on the west coast. The others were verified as well by various wildlife biologists. Why are these lost? Who knows. Keep your eyes open, and take pictures of prints. Watch for deer kills. The evidence is likely out there, but most people never see it. Not sure what the wildlife folks' agenda is, but they are clearly in denial, like they were with moose and bear back then.
