Life is nothing but a Game

Distracted as he was, Fundamental did not miss the scent that drifted into his nares. It was sweet smell, one that did not belong in the harshness of the territory that he called his own. Pausing, the stallion raised his head slightly and it was just before him that he noticed fresh tracks in the snow. Slowly his gaze followed them into the trees and there she stood, her eyes watching him as he now watched her. Silence enveloped them despite Fundamental tilting his ears forward as he looked upon her. Judging by her coat she had been her for a sometime in contrast to her scent.

For every mare that Fundamental had found upon his land he had easily greeted them each time. The stallion could not decide why it was now that his hooves seemed to freeze to the ground as his mind went blank as his tongue became too thick in which to speak or step closer. He could do nothing but stare at the mare whose coloring he had never seen before and a scent he had never smelled. It was as if his body had become made of lead.

Finally the wheels began turning again as his mind began to speed up into chaos, each thought trying to grasp what he should say or what he should do. Nothing would stick, nothing would stand out and still his legs refused to carry him any closer. Fundamental was beginning to feel like an idiot just staring at her like he was and surely she would feel uncomfortable or at least think he had something mentally wrong if he did not DO something. Finally he was able to part his lips and push out something.

“Hi”

Well that was lame.
