A heart on fire is hard to catch
Nootau decided that this wolf was actually an okay guy. A little bit odd, with the intensity in which he was staring at Nootau, but he seemed friendly. Nootau shifted his rear paws so that both of them were off to one side and took another bite of his rabbit as the black wolf replied. Nootau ear’s flicked at his question. What gave him the idea Nootau was part of a pack? Oh, right, he probably smelled like a bunch of different wolves since he was living in Diveen right now. Nootau couldn’t really decide if he could call the members there pack mates or not, but Isola had invited him to stay for however long he wanted. He supposed that made him a temporary pack member, at the very least.
“In Diveen,” Nootau told him, happily if anything at all. He was feeling rather unemotional about the Diveen pack. He wasn’t proud to be there, but he wasn’t unhappy. He had been thrilled beyond anything when he first got there, but the past day had been a rotten one. He had met Azrael and his spoiled brat of a daughter. Ugh… Okay, he really needed to let this go. When had Nootau ever held a grudge for long? Maybe because it had happened in the same day that he was still bearing bad feelings about the interactions. Brush it off, Nootau, he commanded himself, and he forced himself to not indulge in a bad-talking session.
“I’m not actually an official member there, but Isola told me I could stay as long as I wanted,” Nootau continued, wagging his tail at the thought of Isola. She really was a kind wolf. Isola was probably the gem of her family if Azrael and his daughter were any indication – Whoa, whoa. Banished thought. Good job, Nootau. Isola was probably the gem of any population of wolves, actually. Nootau didn’t think she ever had a bad thought in her head. He hoped he could spend time with her again. With summer rolling in, he was sure she’d have more time since her newborns were getting older. Maybe he could even meet them!
“Were you looking for a pack to join?” Nootau asked him, mostly to carry conversation and sort of wondering if that’s why he had brought up where Nootau’s pack mates were. If he wanted, Nootau would be more than happy to introduce him to Isola and let her have the final say on him. At the same time… bringing a stranger to Diveen was probably a bad idea when he wasn’t an official member of the pack. He should probably go and get Isola or someone qualified and bring them here to evaluate Devlin. That seemed more like the proper thing to do for Diveen wolves.
