It was midday and Fundamental was once again standing upon the beach. He had only ventured off once but it had led to nothing short of disappointment. He had not spoken to another soul, simply slipping on and off the Crossing as if he was never there. The change of season had cut his trip short though, causing him to return before he had wanted to. Keeping the mares safe was his job and how could he do that if he was not here within his territory? But that had not been the only thing he had done since his return.


His time spent with Crusae had been short and sweet. So many questions plagued his mind that he had forgotten to ask then. What had happened to the foal she had been carrying upon her arrival here? Why had she been hiding from him and why now of all this time had she finally come to him? It was confusing but she had disappeared again, leaving him frustrated and perplexed without answers. So when the sound of fast approaching hoof beats and the echo greeting rang within his ears he could feel nothing but shock. Turning his head to see Crusae just before she bumped her chest into him, he reached back and lipped at her mane playfully. Just because he had been down didn’t mean he had to show it to this mare.


As the woman stepped away with embarrassment across her face, it was when Fundamental noticed the girl. So this was the elusive child that Cru had kept hidden. A smile crossed his features and he peered around the woman to the pretty colored girl. There was not a trace of malicious intent upon his face, only curiosity. “Hello young lady” he greeted kindly though not stepping closer in case Cru didn’t like it due to the season. “I’m Fundamental, what is your name?”
