Life is nothing but a Game

Time healed all things, Fundamental knew that. It had healed him when all of his family had disappeared, having to leave this place behind and seek out his own self before returning. Even now he lacked family and the stallion craved it with a long deep ache he was growing numb too. At times he felt like some kind of addict, looking for the big hit that would never bring him down from his high. But that was not the answer he would receive, not from the hand he was dealt. At times he knew it was his fault for not seeking it out any harder than he was, but this land would be his family as it was the only stable thing left. Even when he had long since passed it would be here, remembering him when no one else would.

When the faint scent of a single mare reaches his nostrils, he turns his gaze from the warm steaming pool of spring water within the protection of large rocks. Raising his head, he looks out across his land yet does not spot her pale skin against the ocean of white. He had seen her multiple times in his wanderings, peering through the trees at her lonely form yet never giving his presence away. Solitude was what it seemed she needed and that was what he had given her, not knowing how else to help. Should she have needed comfort he would have provided it, but she had never come seeking him out to see if he would provide it and so he had kept his distance. Yet during her disappearance he had grown curious and now that she had returned he sought her out.

Fundamental’s painted body wove effortlessly through the intricate trail that lead him free of the maze made of rock and stone. Only when he had made his way from it did he taste the air, moving in the direction that her perfume wafted from and as he drew closer to her escape he finally spotted her. Giving out a low rumbling nicker of greeting, Fundamental did not stop until he stood outside of her shelter, looking in on the mare he did not know the name of. “So you’ve returned” he stated wondering if she would stay or if this was her goodbye.
